2.2.11

What is it about a video camera in your face that makes you clam up and lose all personality?

Today we shot our plea video for the reality show we were chosen to be on (more on those exact details in a minute).

Here's a run-down of how the afternoon went.

1. We wait patiently for three producers to show up one hour late.
2. Upon arriving, they are friendly, outgoing, and put us right at ease. Comfort starting to return a bit.
3. We are fitted with mics. Mine goes in my bra. Awkward.
4. They check out our master bed/bath and then ask to see the basement. They then say they need to conference with their executive producer. Their tone doesn't sound good.
5. They go outside (in 25 degrees--this can't be good) to discuss.
6. I bite my nails. Greg paces.
7. They return. The dimensions of our master bath might be too small to fit a host, us, 2 cameramen and a carpenter. BUT, they loved our submission tape and us so much they decide that today we will shoot TWO plea videos, just in case the dimensions of the master don't work, our basement will be our back up.
8. So what will we get? Complete master bed/bath renovation with major reconfiguration or...entertainment theater in the basement. Eeeeeee!
9. Greg says something as we're filming about DIY network. They say, "Oh, we didn't tell you? The show has changed. You're the first season of "Run My Makeover" and it'll be on HGTV." Bigger audience, bigger budget, bigger makeovers. Eeeeeeee!
10. Then they tell us who the host is.

Yep, that's her. Cue sad trombone sound.

Comfort zone GONE again. Will need to go on major diet prior to show shooting (in May). She's an "up-and-comer." Oh, and a model. I think they want more men to watch...
11. Turns out they really DO mess up your rooms and make them look terrible! They literally went digging through our drawers and laundry baskets, stripped our bed and took down some art! Here's what they ended up with:
12. When all was said and done (and 3 hours later) they were on their merry way. We feel really good about the whole process and can't wait to get started. Must overcome camera and super model uncomfortable-ness between now and May. I wonder what Greg's reaction to her will be...
