6.6.11

So now that Will is at an age where he can really interact with kids, we've entered the adventurous world of Play Dates. In fact, I already set up three for this week I was so excited about them.

Tonight was yogamama night, and instead of doing yoga, we chose to partake in the other kind of yoga: wine, good food, and commiseration. And laughter! Oh--and our kids were there.

Ranging in age from three and a half to 17ish months, we didn't have the first glass of wine poured before the chaos began.

But it was good chaos--a house full of laughter and overflowing with momisms.
"Don't touch."
"Stay here."
"Don't throw sand."
"Watch out!"
"Say thank you."
"Say you're sorry."
"What did we talk about?"
"Gentle!"
"Enough!"
"Who pooped?"
"Do you want a strawberry? A blueberry? Hummus? A cracker? Water? Juice? Vitamin?"

(That last one let you know the mamas present were definitely yogis. :)

And then there were puzzles, and a trampoline, and a sandbox, and movies; there was sliding, swinging, throwing, jumping, and shrieking--sometimes in delight, sometimes, well, not.

We talked about hitting and biting and potty training; we talked about who wants more kids and who doesn't; we talked about our own insecurities as moms and swapped tips on food and discipline and reading and ear infections.

And you knew the adventure was finished as one of the tots hopped on a toy rocket and took off, dragging the training potty behind him as the others crammed the window screaming, "Ice cream man!!!"

But what a good adventure it was.

I am so so grateful for my yogamama sangha.
